Tuimelende temperatuur in april. Een kraai loodst Pop richting Zuiden. Pop wordt Popje. Hij zal toch niet de wijk nemen naar het Afrikaanse continent? Dan zien we Pop nooit meer terug. De kraai heeft een retourtje geboekt, zwenkt af en maakt een smalle U. Pop afschudden lukt hem niet. Wandelaars kijken met de hand boven hun ogen tegen de zon, vol bewondering naar Pop die de kraai met gemak bijhoudt.
De
kraai landt op dezelfde tak in de pinus sylvestris waar hij voorheen de wacht
hield. Pop blaft hem vanaf de grond aan. Pas dan ziet Wim de twee
vossenwelpjes in de schaduw van de boom. Moeders, vermoedelijk verscholen in de bramenstruik eronder, sist
naar Pop. Pop die ontzag heeft voor poezen (op straat vermijdt ze de
confrontatie door er in een noodgang met een grote boog omheen te lopen), rent geschrokken met onderdanige oortjes naar ons. Vos en kraai hebben een
samenwerkingsverbond zoals zo vaak. De kraai zorgt voor afleidingsmanoeuvres, zodat niemand het jonge gezinnetje stoort. Als tegenprestatie deelt de vos muizen met hem, neem ik aan.
Tumbling temperature in April. A crow leads Pop to the South. The further away the smaller Pop gets. Is the crow headed for to the African continent? If so we'll never see Pop again. Luckily the crow booked a return ticket and finally makes a U-turn in the sky. He doesn't manage to shake swifty Pop off. Hikers with their hands above their eyes for the blinding sun, look full of admiration at Pop who runs as fast as the crow flies. Go girl!
The crow lands on the same branch in the pinus sylvestris where he sat a few minutes before. Pop barks towards him from below. Then Wim spots two cubs in the shade of the tree. Mother fox, supposedly hidden in the blackberry bush underneath, hisses to Pop. Pop who has respect for cats (she avoids confrontations with them), is startled and runs with her ears down to us. Fox and crow cooperate as they often do. The crow sees to distraction so that no one disrupts the young family. As a return favour the fox shares mice with him I guess.
